The Frontlines
I’m on them, for you.
Candi Vegas is taking questions. Let me know if there’s anything specific you want asked.
Stay strong, comrades.

I just reviewed the overnight responses to your previous entry. I really like that this crusade is getting attention. And constructive attention, not just slagging off those who either have no talent, or refuse to extend themselves to better understand the music scene about which they’re paid to write.
We want answers.
As I tweeted on the Tweet-tubes:
“How did you get the job?”
“Do you think you do a good job?”
“What is the hardest part of your job?”
“Do you read any other music publications at all, or do you just exist in your own little – and wholly PR-driven – bubble?”

The whole ‘not just slagging off’ thing makes me feel like I need to BEHAVE myself and be be respectful or whatever. I suppose, just this once.. I can do it.

Oh, also, I put your questions in.

“Why do you suck so much?”
“Where do you live? And how much is it to send a IED to that address?”
“Isn’t it true you are really a wilderbeest that has been taught the language of men and learned to walk upright amongst them?”
“Can you die now?”

Submitting to internet following thought: am unsure of wilderbeest comment as considered under the respectfulness criteria. Emitted chuckle nonetheless.

Tough but fair. But I do think it important that we get to the truth of the matter.

I.E. where exactly Candi Vegas falls along the spectrum of mammalian species?

You typed truth, I read heart. View my comment under such a context. My thanks.

P.S. I assure you, Tal, that I will find out once and for all if Candi Vegas is in fact a hooved native African herd animal.

What is your perceived role of the BrizBands blog?
Does this differ from the directions issued from your editor?
Why is music criticism largely exempt from the blog’s content, aside from “(band) wasn’t very good”, and “(band) disappointed me”?
Do you think that the blog has gotten better since it began nearly two years ago?
Do you think that your misunderstanding of the value of music criticism helps or hinders your role?

(picking up on Khan’s comment on this page: http://blogs.news.com.au/couriermail/brizbands/index.php/couriermail/comments/what_did_you_think_of_the_hi_fi/)
Do you stand by Khan’s comment that “..we do our best to give you music news and goss without the inane chatter and commercialization of radio stations or music websites”?
